Which area of Hamstead Heath park is the most popular for picnickers?
I’m taking a friend for lunch tomorrow and quite fancy having a picnic in Hamstead Heath. I’ve never been before so could anyone tell me the nicest area to eat?
I’ll be driving there too so are there any car parks near the nice areas?
There are two locations which I recommend. One is the bit near the Hampstead Heath railway station, its nice for walks and picnics. The other is prettier I think, and its near Golders Green, its called Golders Hill Park. Even though its part of Hampstead heath, its more like a park.
Don’t know about parking as I always walk there as I live nearby.
There’s a small car park on hampstead heath itself. As for where to eat a picnic, you may want to consider the weather tomorrow, do you want to be too far from your car?!?!
There are many lakes around which are quite nice. Just sit where you like everywheres nice up there, there are a few large flat green patches which are nice for picnicing!

I’d recommend on the north side of Hampstead Heath at Kenwood House … there is a small car park there and there’s also parking allowed along parts of the roadside … there’s a variety of places to picnic, either in the woods, out on the Heath itself, or by the lakeside at Kenwood (the part where they do the open air summer concerts) … it’s a very popular area plus, if you run out of food, there’s a lovely restaurant in the stable block at the back of Kenwood House itself … and if you want an extra thing to do, go into the House and admire the paintings and the exquisite library
