What is a healthy attitude and consumption of alcoholic drinks?
I have been a over drinking for around say 4 years may be more but not a full blown alcoholic in the physical sense.
I had a discussion in with my wife about drinking sensibly and next week I am going without a drink to see how I really feel about drinking physically and phychologically.
I do not want to stop drinking as in teetotal as that to me is extreme and I enjoy a beer and a wine and would not deny myself the pleasure. But I do not want to drink where it is unhealthy but have a healthy sustainable enjoyment that maybe be beneficial..
I am 38, 6′ 2" and weigh 220 lbs.
Some advice would be nice that I could use and give me food for thought as I develop my practice and attitude to a more healthier way of life.
A drink or two on the weekend to me is social drinking and any amount of drinking that causes you to loose control or become abusive tends to be a problem. If you think you were tending to having a problem you probably were, good that you saw it.

What is the healthy weight range for cats?
I weighed my cat today, and she came in at 7.8 lbs. She is a Birman breed, quite a dainty little thing. Is 7.8lbs a healthy weight for my pet?
What weight ranges are healthy for different sized cats, or different breeds of cat?
"Healthy weight" actually has little to do with the cat’s weight in pounds, and more to do with the body condition. Having never seen your individual cat, nobody can really tell you if 7.8 lbs is appropriate or not.
Body condition is measured on a scale of either 1 to 5 or 1 to 9. Most veterinarians will assess your pet’s body condition at every visit, and use that scale to decide how much in pounds the cat should weigh.
Here’s a nice little chart I found online explaining the body condition scale in more detail. This particular chart uses the 1 to 5 scale.

As always, if you have further questions, you can come back here, or visit your veterinarian for a check-up and a diet consult.

What is a healthy and realistic ammount of weight to lose in one week?
… For someone who just started eating WAY healthier and doing at least 30 minutes of cardio 5 days a week.
I have been on my diet/exercise regime for about 2 weeks and have lost 7lbs. Does that sound about right?
And also, what is a healthy time frame for someone to expect to lose a total of 30-35lbs?
For the first two weeks that sounds pretty good. Since you’re changing your eating habits and incorporating exercise into your weekly routine, you’ll likely lose more weight in the very beginning. Once your body starts adjusting to this new lifestyle, I would expect to lose about 1 to 2 pounds a week. That’s really all you want to lose a week in order to ensure you keep the weight off.
I would guess that you’d be able to lose 30-35 lbs in about 20 weeks if you keep up with things. Also beware of plateauing. Somewhere along the line you will, it happens to all of us. Just try to change up your routine and be sure to do some light weight training or resistance training in order to build lean muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat, but it’s a LOT more compact. So you might stop losing weight at some point, but continue to tone. Try not to get fixed on the number on the scale. I’d prefer to watch your percent body fat, as that’s a better indicator or health. Muscle also burns more calories while you’re at rest than fat does. So you want to have a healthy amount of muscle, it will help you burn more calories.
What are some healthy alternative dinner ideas?
I’m a teenager and I’m trying to eat a whole lot healthier. I cut out drinking soda and fast food. For suppers my dad makes greasy food containing loads of meats. If anyone could give me any healthy easy meals to make that still fill my pyramid chart, that would be great! Thank you!
- salads (with low-fat or fat free dressing- or even no dressing)
- a portion or two of healthy meat with plenty of vegetables
- fruit for dessert instead of dessert dishes
What is a healthy thing to have for breakfast?
What is something that I can have for breakfast that is healthy? It doesn’t matter if it taste good or not aslong as it is healthy. Also, what should I drink?
My breakfast consists of a bowl of porridge but instead of sugar I put in a spoonful of raspberry jam (absolutely delicious) and a big glass of juice, mainly orange. By jaysus you’d be climbing mountains after that!
How to eat healthy as a vegetarian college student?
I will be living off campus and have a full kitchen with a stove, microwave, steam cooker, and a toaster oven. I have been a vegetarian for 2 years now but I am worried that when I go to college I won’t have as much time or money to cook and eat healthy. So what are some easy, healthy, and tasty vegetarian meals and snacks?
I have also never had to grocery shop for myself before, so any tips for that would be great.
Cheap: dried beans (but you have to PLAN ahead with these, soak 24 hours before cooking and cook for one hour), or canned beans are relatively cheap. Do you have a food processor? Hummus is sooo cheap to make yourself.
Giant bag of basmati rice for $15 would last you months, get a rice cooker from a garage sale.
Onions, mushrooms, garlic, ginger all very cheap and make veggies tasty.
Nuts, buy in bulk: pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds (both very good on salads), almonds, broken cashews (they are cheap if you buy them broken! and a handful has 10g or protein in it).
Take nuts and raisins to school, make wraps with leftovers from dinner if you make a stir fry, cooked fried tofu is good cold so you can make a sandwich out of it. Pasta salads are good too, add some beans or nuts/seeds for protein.
As for shopping, you will soon realize that frozen prepared foods are a rip off, so make it yourself, they are also low in nutrition so you may run into problems. Veggie burgers are expensive so eat them as a treat, don’t eat them every day (they are a processed food anyway, not healthy)
Go to www.fatfreevegan.com
very cheap ingredients, you don’t need a "natural food" store to get the supplies, and quick to make.
